United Way’s Adopt-A-Family Program

G SALON’s Holiday Giving Tree has been an annual charity event within the salon since 2007.Each year, starting in November, G SALON collects items from the wish lists of one or two local families, which are provided through partnership with the Meriden/Wallingford United Way. Each year, G SALON has an overwhelming response from their generous clients, friends and family, who donate gifts of clothing, household items, toys, etc. to these underserved families. These gifts are then delivered to the families in time for a special and memorable holiday.
In May 2013, G SALON was the recipient of the Meriden/Wallingford United Way’s “Outstanding Volunteer Commitment” Award for its involvement in the Adopt-A-Family Program.

United Way of Meriden/Wallingford NFL Players Weekend

Since 2017, G SALON has been a supporter of the UWMW annual NFL Players Weekend. Each year, along with attending the fundraising dinner and silent and live auction, G SALON also sponsors several local young people who might otherwise not be able to participate in the Youth Clinic, where they get to play ball, run drills and learn from professional football players and top college players headed to the NFL. The Youth Clinic is held at Choate-Rosemary Hall in Wallingford in March.

St. Baldrick’s Foundation Head-Shaving Events

As a six-year host of an annual Head-Shaving event, from 2011-2016, G Salon was involved with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, an organization committed to raising funds to aid in the research to cure children’s cancer. At these events, volunteers raised money and had their heads shaved by the G SALON team, in solidarity with children who typically lose their hair during cancer treatment. In six years, G SALON, and the participants of these events, raised over $79,000.00 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

Fairy Tale Ball

The Children’s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut, a non-profit organization, held The Fairy Tale Ball, an annual event to raise money for the museum. From 2007-2010, G SALON volunteered to run the “Transformation Station,” in which attendees of the ball were invited to get in touch with their “inner child” and don neon sunglasses, glitter hairspray, temporary tattoos, tiaras and more.

Relay for Life

G SALON’s donation to the Quinnipiac Relay for Life made them a track sponsor for the event from 2007-2010. The Relay for Life raises money for the American Cancer Society through a 24-hour walk.
