Kathleen and Erika and I have recently returned from New Orleans, where we attended the
“BEHIND THE CHAIR COLOR, CUT AND STYLE SHOW”.
World renowned artists and industry leaders and educators from all the top color lines were
there to present the latest techniques, tools and tips for what’s happening RIGHT NOW in the
world of Hair Color!
Pops of pastels and vibrant tones are still so current…it’s a great way to add a little “edge”
without too much change or commitment. Applied in “peek-a-boo” fashion, you can either
hide or expose the colored area based on your mood or your plans!!!
Super cool blondes, bordering on silver-gray, were popular with many of the teams we saw
on stage, reminiscent of the platinum shades of the 1940’s and 50’s…
Our beloved Davines represented at the show, with Head Honcho Pier Paolo Brandolini
introducing Style Ambassador Joseph DiMaggio to the stylists at the show. Although they
didn’t present on stage, we observed some great styling at the Davines Studio in the
Connection Center, where all the teams had areas to showcase their own styles, tools,
products and trends. OF COURSE we did lots of “connecting” and lots of shopping!! AND, we
got to see Joseph’s work up close when we returned and took a boat ride on the Hudson
River, sponsored by Davines!
L’Oreal Professional showcased their signature “BALAYAGE”, a precise hair painting
technique to create soft or bold natural highlights. This was very exciting for us to see on
stage, as Kathleen and Madison are attending a Balayage certification class in New York City
One of the most exciting segments was the CELEBRITY COLORIST Panel Discussion…stylists
and colorists to the stars shared their experiences and answered questions about their
famous clientele. Sitting on the panel was Jennifer Aniston’s colorist Justin Anderson, the
talented and entertaining Guy Tang, Longtime colorist to the stars and E! Correspondent Mr.
Kim Vo and the woman responsible for the hair color of Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian,
Tracy Cunningham! Seems celeb clients are a lot like regular clients, and their colorists hear
the same requests and face the challenges as we do every day in the salon!
There was so much to see and learn and we are inspired and motivated every day to try
some of the new tools and techniques we learned at the show!!! Education is essential…it
keeps us looking and moving forward toward THE NEXT BIG THING…and we can’t wait to
share it all with you!
See you at your next appointment…are you ready for SOMETHING NEW???
More cool looks…
